About the event
Do you like scary movies? Do certain films or scenes resonate with you long after the screen is back to black, and have you ever considered why? This workshop is being run by Dr Amy Beddows, an experienced trauma therapist and dedicated horror fan. It will explore the psychological benefits of watching horror and the ways that horror films can help us deal with trauma, depression, grief and anxiety. It will combine elements of film analysis with accessible, therapeutic strategies to try out yourself and enhance your engagement with the genre. You are encouraged to think about your favourite films, heroes and heroines and – of course – the scariest horror villains.
